■コロナ禍においてもネットワーキングをMBA学生は価値を置いている
Stanford大学組織行動学教授のリサーチによると、「選択肢が限られているとき、人はより多くの多様な解決策を生み出す」ことが示されています
これまでのようにface to faceコミュニケーションを図ることは難しくなりましたがバーチャル上でのネットワーキングは非常に活発です
-Virtual tours of the school & town for international students who could not make it to campus;
-Small outdoor socially distanced get togethers (e.g., BBQs);
-Virtual (and in-person outdoor) workout classes taught or hosted by classmates;
-Virtual (and in-person) small group volunteering events for local charities;

At Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, Fuqua MBA Association Co-President Mike Treiser recognized a potential concern among onboarding the incoming Class of 2022 MBA students due to the constraints of Covid-19. Working alongside admissions personnel and numerous other Fuqua administrators, they set up weekly virtual onboarding events for their incoming MBA students on topics ranging from life in Durham, how the Administration was handling changing safety regulations, and how incoming students could prepare for business school. The responses of these sessions were overwhelmingly positive from both students and administrators. Even after things return to normal, Fuqua still hopes to utilize this approach.

アジアMBA各校 日本人進学数（2020年版）
長年にわたり、「アジアMBA夏祭り」を共催させていただいているアジア留学協会の方から「主要アジアMBA各校 日本人進学数」2020年の調査結果を共有いただきました。
さらに2020年入学者の調査おに加えて、アジアMBA各校 日本人進学数(Full-time)の推移調査についても公開されております。
・日本人進学数は全体的に例年より少なめ
新型コロナウィルスの影響が出ているためか、アジアMBA全体への日本人進学数は例年より少な目です。ただし、この傾向はアジアMBAだけではなく、
全体のMBAプログラムと共通する傾向です。こちらは一過性の傾向であるので、この点は留意ください。
・年々高まるアジアMBAプログラムへの日本人進学者の増加
2011年以降の約10年にわたる日本人進学者の推移をみると、各学校により個人差はあるものの多く学校で進学者の増加がみられます。

2020-2021 Columbia LLM 出願締め切り日変更 Early review option の設定を行わない方針
Columbia LLMの出願締切のポリシーの変更が発表されました。コロナウィルスの影響を受けての変更とみられます。
以前に設定されていたEarly review option の設定を行わずに、Regular roundのみの締め切りの設定に変更
The application for the 2021-2022 LL.M. Program is now available, and the deadline to submit an application is December 18, 2020.
出願結果についてのregular roundとして以下の日程での発表予定となります
Admission decisions for the 2021-2022 LL.M. Program will be sent by mid-March.
当校で直接大学のアドミッションに問い合わせを行った際の学校の回答を記します。
Thank you for your email. Due to the unique structure of this year’s program, there will not be an early review option for applicants to the 2021-2022 LL.M. Program. Instead, all admission decisions will be sent by March 15. There is no advantage to submitting applications early, other than giving LSAC more time for document processing.

Harvard Kennedy School is offering a temporary suspension of the GRE or GMAT test score policy for all applicants to the Mid-Career MPA program, due to the unique challenges brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. For the 2020-21 admission cycle only, GRE or GMAT score submission will be optional for applicants to the Mid-Career MPA program. Applicants may, if they choose, submit GRE or GMAT scores for consideration in the application process, but test scores are not required.

新型コロナウイルス（COVID-19）の感染拡大に伴い、留学中またはこれから留学を予定している方々にも大きな影響が出ています。アジア留学協会では、アジアMBA各校の新型コロナウイルスへの対応状況を調査することで、留学検討者の過度な不安を払拭し、状況を正確に把握し受験準備に臨めるよう主要アジアMBAトップスクール12校に対してアンケート調査を実施しました。
調査サマリー
12校中3校が新学期（2020年度）の開始時期を延期
多くの学校は通常通り新学期をスタートさせる中、シンガポール国立大学、香港大学、CEIBSの3校は開始時期を延期。中でも、シンガポール国立大学は2020年度プログラム開始を5カ月延ばし、2021年1月スタートとしています。CEIBSは10月中旬にスタートを延期していますが、その前の8月中旬～10月中旬はNon-Creditの授業やアクティビティを実施しており、学生はキャンパス入りし活動を行っています。香港大学は8月初旬から9月中旬へ若干の延期となっています。
中国大陸以外、シンガポール・香港・台湾の学校は留学生もキャンパス入り
中国大陸では新型コロナウイルス（COVID-19）に係る入国制限が行われており、海外にいる留学生が入国できない状態です（※）。このような状況下で、CEIBSでは海外にいる留学生はチューリッヒ（スイス）キャンパス入りし、上海キャンパスとデュアルキャンパスでオフラインの授業を行っています。（※）2020年9月末時点
授業はハイブリッド方式、なるべく早く通常の対面方式への移行を目指す
全ての学校でオンライン/オフラインのハイブリッド方式で授業を開始しています。留学生含め学生がキャンパス入りできている学校でも、クラス内の人数制限・マスク着用など安全対策を講じ、来校を希望しない学生にはオンライン授業の参加を認めるなど、現時点ではオンライン/オフラインを併用して授業を運営しています。
しかし多くの学校では状況が改善し、全ての学生がキャンパス入りし、従来と同じ環境で授業が受けられるようになり次第、通常の対面方式への移行を目指しています。
来年度の出願・選考に大きな影響はなし。フレキシブルな出願対応も
12校中7校が来年度の出願・選考について新型コロナウイルス（COVID-19） による「影響なし」と回答しています。一部、CEIBS、香港科技大学では、例年より柔軟な出願対応を行うと表明しており、テストスコアが揃っていない状態での出願、代替・追加のAdmission Testの受付など、ケースバイケースで認められる可能性があります。また、シンガポール経営大学では語学力の評価は、Admission Testのスコアとインタビューを重視するとしています。
MIT Sloan 2020-2021出願においてGMAT/GRE の提出をoptionalに変更
US Top MBAプログラムの中で、2020-2021の出願において、MIT Sloanが初めてGMAT/GRE の提出をoptionalに変更する方針が発表されました。
但し、テストスコアを提出する/しない、どちらが出願戦略において有効であるかは、個人の状況によって多く異なります。以下をよく読んでいただき、自分なりの戦略を立てることを強くお勧めいたします。

However, in view of challenges brought about by the coronavirus pandemic, we will allow candidates for the 2020-21 admission cycle to submit their application without the test and review their submitted material as is and without negative inferences. If admitted, candidates will not be required to take a test.
Additionally, applicants are welcome to submit other pieces of evidence, such as expired test scores (GMAT, GRE, EA, etc.); MITx MicroMasters, CORe, edX, MBAMath, or any other non-degree coursework completed; or certifications earned such as CPA, ACCA, CFA, etc; all of which may assist the Admissions Committee in its evaluation process.

夏は多くの学校の説明会が開催される時期です。
MBAプログラム合格にむけて必ず質問される why MBA? why this program? why you? に適切に回答するためには学校調査が欠かせません。
Covid-19の影響を受けて、どの学校もオンラインでの学校説明会に変化しています。今回はこのオンラインの学校説明会の活用方法をお伝えします。
■イベントの種類について
オンラインで開催されるイベントには大きく分けて以下の5種類です。目的に応じて使い分けることが重要です。
①一般的なプログラム説明
②特定のトピックに絞ったプログラム説明
③クラスビジット
④在校生とのカジュアルチャット(Q&A)
⑤入学審査官とのQ&A
①一般的なプログラム説明
プログラム内容、入試情報の概要の説明と参加者からのオンライン上でのQ&Aに回答が得られるものです
②特定のトピックに絞ったプログラム説明
特定の産業へのキャリアに興味がある方むけ、クラス以外のクラブ活動にフォーカスしたもの、特定のグループ（地域性や性別など）
など、学校によって実に様々なものが提供されます。
パネリスト（在校生や卒業生など）が登壇し、自身の経験を共有いただける場合が多いです。
①②については、過去の実施セッションをrecorded sessionをwebsite上で公開しているおり、いつでもアクセスできるように
してある学校も多くあります。特に時差を気にして参加しなくていけない留学生にとってはうれしい情報です。以下に主だったプログラムのリンク先を記します。

■オンラインイベントのメリット/デメリット
メリット：
参加しやすい。さらにイベントの開催頻度が高いので時差さえコントロールできれば調整しやすい。これまで特にクラス参加などは、オンキャンパスでないと難しいことも多かったのですが、バーチャルワールドではどなたでもオンラインであればアクセス可能となり、イベントへの参加へのハードルは各段に下がりました
デメリット：
イベントのパネリストや参加者同士の交流機会がオンライン開催の中で限定されるため、受け身になりがちです。「合格レベルにつながる情報収集」には努力と工夫をしないと合格への可能性を高めることが難しい状況に陥ります。
■事前準備の重要性
上述のそれぞれのイベントの特性を理解した上で、みなさんの目的に応じてイベントを使い分けること、そして、入念な事前準備とイベント参加後のフォローを行うことが重要です。この活動により、「合格レベルにつながる情報収集」への成功の可否が分かれます。
■少人数制イベントでは、あなたのことを理解してもらうことが参加目的であることを意識する！
④在校生とのカジュアルチャット(Q&A)
⑤入学審査官とのQ&A もしくは One to One Consultation
これらのイベントは、「少人数」で開催されます。参加者は、1人から数人単位で実施されることが殆どです。少人数である分だけ、予約が埋まりやすくなります。そして、こちらのイベントでは、参加者の積極性が求められます。なぜならこのイベントの目的は、あなたのことを在校生/卒業生/入学審査官に印象づけることだからです。
このイベントで最低限準備すべき事項を記します。
A.ビジネス上での自己紹介
B.具体的な質問の準備
C.今後のコミュニケーション方法の確認
A.ビジネス上での自己紹介-相手に自分を正しく理解してもらう/相手を理解する準備が重要-
特定の学校のミーティングルームに入室すると、他参加者とパネリストと交流ができるようになります。簡潔に自分のプロフェッショナルバックグラウンドと今回のQ&Aセッション参加の目的を述べることはマナーの１つです。
また、予めパネリストのバックグラウンドが分かっている場合には、相手を事前に理解することも重要です。学校関係者でしたら、MBAプログラムのwebsiteにベーシックな情報は掲載されていますし、在校生や卒業生であればlinkedin などビジネス上のSNSに簡単にアクセスすることが出来ます。
相手に自分を正しく理解してもらう/相手を理解する準備が、イベントの中で参加者やパネリストとの適切なコミュニケーションに繋がります。
B.具体的な質問の準備
このイベントの目的は、「聞きたいことを聞くこと」にあります。他の参加者の質問から新たな気づきを得られることも、もちろん重要ですが、あなたの質問が他の参加者に同じように新たな気づきを与えることにも貢献すべきです。そして何よりも、その質問により得られる情報があなたのプログラムへの合格の可能性に影響を与えることを忘れないでください。
イベント参加の目的は、入試のプロセスにおいて、出願先プログラムへの興味を伝える上で必要な情報収集、特に、あなたがそのプログラムで起こすことができる違い（貢献）を明確にすることです。さらに、パネリストとのコミュニケーションを重ねていくことは、出願プロセスの中の1つであるインタビューの事前練習であるともとらえることが出来ます。
例：クラスの実際の様子をしりたいのであれば、興味あるクラスの事前リサーチを行っておきましょう
各学校のカリキュラム、クラスシラバスに目を通し、興味あるコースのリストアップとその中で知りたいことの整理が必要です。
その際の情報源としては、各学校の公式サイトだけではなく、student blogや日本人在校生による非公式にアクセスすると実際の受講者の経験談、感想などを得ることができます。詳細はMBA 効果的な学校説明会の活用方法をご覧ください。
チェックポイント：
あなたのその質問は、あなたの出願者としての魅力を高めることにつながるか？（プログラムへの貢献をつたえることにつながるか？）常にこの意識を持って臨むことが重要です。
C.今後のコミュニケーション方法の確認
イベント後も皆さんに有益な情報提供をしてくれるサポーターを探す事も意識ください。イベントで出会った方の氏名/卒業年度/業界や職種/連絡先のメモを必ず取るようにしましょう。限られた時間、かつ他の参加者もいる中で、質問しきれなかったこと、もしくは、イベント後に新たなに思い付いた質問に追加で回答いただける方を探すことはとても重要です。
ビジネスマナーとして、イベント参加後、連絡先を交換できた方には、簡潔にお礼とイベントを通じて具体的な志望動機が高まったことを伝えておくことも忘れないように。
2021年の入学を目指す皆さんにとっては夏は志望校リサーチの山場です。準備項目がぐっと増えてくる時期でもあります。どうぞ時間を有効活用くださいね
US Top100 MBAプログラムの秋学期のクラス運営方法について

各主要校の秋学期のクラス運営が発表されました。
7月はコロナウィルスの影響を受けて、学校がオンライン授業を提供する場合の留学生のUS滞在について対応に対して、アメリカ政府の方針と学校側の主張が対立し混乱しましたが、7/24時点で、アメリカ移民局より100％オンラインでの授業提供であってもUSに在籍している留学生のUS滞在を許可する発表が出されました。
ただし、以下にある通り、現時点では、2020年秋学期の入学者で学校の授業運営が100％オンラインの場合は入国ができません。
“In accordance with March 2020 guidance, nonimmigrant students in new or initial status after 9 March will not be able to enter the US to enroll in a US school as a nonimmigrant student for the fall term to pursue a full course of study that is 100% online.”
