9月からPersonal Statementの執筆に取り組むために、Resume の作成を通して自分の強み（アピールポイント）は整理できていますか？このレジュメをもとにPersonal statementやLetter of recommendationで言及する実例を選定しましょう。

Personal Statement (Stanford LL.M.):2-3 pages

パーソナルステートメントに着手する前に、まずは以下の項目に対して該当する内容を書き纏めてみましょう。

1) Experience in legal practice
2) Interest in LL.M. in the applicable specialization
3) Post LL.M. goals
4) How the Stanford LL.M. program could benefit your career progress

その纏めたコンテンツを所定のページ数で収めるためにも、アウトラインや段落ごとの字数も考えなければなりません。

 Two letters of recommendation (Stanford LL.M.)

It is suggested that LLM applicants obtain one letter from someone familiar with their work in legal practice (or related professional experience) and one letter from someone familiar with their academic work. At least one letter should be from someone with whom the applicant has worked who can address the applicant’s English-language proficiency.

Top LL.M.出願戦略セミナー 7/10開催のお知らせ

LL.M.出願コンサルタントの佐取です。6月も後半に差し掛かってきましたが、テスト対策等の進捗はいかがでしょうか？ 本日は7月10日（日）に開催予定の「Top LL.M.出願戦略セミナー」を紹介します。

LL.M.受験生の第一志望校合格へ向け、10年間近くにわたりLL.M.ストラテジーゼミ、個別コンサルティングを通して出願指導に従事してきました。その経験を通じて、複数の合格事例から見えてくる共通要素をこれからLLM LL.M.目指す皆さんと共有したいという考えでこのセミナーを新たに作りました。

このセミナーでは、Berkeley, Columbia, Harvard, Pennsylvania, Stanfordの5校に焦点を当てた審査傾向の把握、年内出願に向けた出願戦略、そして書類作成プロセスに関する要点を解説します。
2023年入学用の出願情報の更新時期は（一部の学校を除き）今年8月中旬以降となると思われます。それまでの期間を有効活用し、テストのスコアメイキング、出願準備計画の策定、さらには学校調査、レジュメの作成、パーソナルステートメントの作成準備に取り掛かることが、秋口以降の出願準備に大きな影響を与えると言っても過言ではありません。

今回のセミナーで取り上げる各校の特徴的な教育リソースを理解し、その中で自分の目に留まった項目とその理由を考え、卒業後の法曹家としての目標達成のため、それらのリソースどう活用するかを考えることが、質の高いパーソナルステートメントの作成には必要不可欠です。また、セミナー内で過去の合格者の出願事例も紹介しますので、参加者の方々に具体的な出願準備のイメージを持ってもらうことにもつながるでしょう。

Question: Tell us about a time within the last three years when your background influenced your participation in a situation, interaction, or project.

先日の出願締切日発表に続き、2021-2022シーズンのエッセイ課題は2020-2021シーズンと変更なしであることが発表されました。正式な出願用のアプリケーションは６月中旬にアップされる予定ですが、現時点では、 Application Guideをダウンロードすることをお勧めします。

Stanford Opens Door To Deferrals For International MBA Admits/学生ビザ取得が必要な合格者に対して入学延期を認める方針発表

Stanford MBA はUS入国に際してコロナウィルスの影響により、学生ビザ取得が必要な合格者に対して、入学延期を認める発表を行った。
入学延期希望者は7/22までに学校に申請することが求められる
入学延期が認められると合格者は2021年もしくは2022年入学を選ぶことができる

JULY 22 DEADLINE FOR DEFERRAL REQUESTS

Moss, an assistant dean of admissions & financial aid at Stanford GSB, set a deadline of July 22 for international students to request a deferral, pledging to respond to all requests within five days by July 27th. “We will not be considering deferral requests for those students who need a visa after July 22,” she added. “While we want you to have ample time to reflect on your enrollment options, we also need to finalize the Class of 2022 to prepare for the Autumn quarter. Consistent with our usual deferral approach, we will still consider other deferral requests, (such as those due to unexpected health challenges or compulsory military service), after July 22nd on a case-by-case basis.”

The complete email from Moss follows:

I hope that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. Despite our expectations that embassies would begin opening in July, many continue to offer limited visa services. We recognize the stress this has caused for international students who need a visa to travel to Stanford, and we want to support you during this challenging time.

We know that obtaining a visa is out of both your and Stanford’s control, and we also cannot predict when embassies will resume regular operations. Given this uncertainty, we are offering those admitted students who need a visa to travel to Stanford the opportunity to defer enrollment. If you request a deferral, you may choose to enroll either in the fall of 2021 or the fall of 2022.

If you would like to defer your enrollment, you must apply for a deferral by Wednesday, July 22nd, and we will respond to your request by Monday, July 27th. We will not be considering deferral requests for those students who need a visa after July 22nd . While we want you to have ample time to reflect on your enrollment options, we also need to finalize the Class of 2022 to prepare for the Autumn quarter. Consistent with our usual deferral approach, we will still consider other deferral requests, (such as those due to unexpected health challenges or compulsory military service), after July 22nd on a case-by-case basis.

Dean Hayes will be sending a follow-up communication which describes the GSB’s plans for the fall and addresses some of these concerns. She also will be joining me on the call Thursday.
